What can you use the app for?

Ffffound is an image bookmarking service that comes with a few additional bells and whistles. Users can bookmark their favorite online images to access later or share with others. The service also makes recommendations based on the user’s interests. The system is very simple to use. The user clicks the “I heart this” button to add the image to their Ffffound list. By doing so, the user is also supplying the Ffffound server with information on their personal tastes and preferences. Ass the server learns about the user, it will post new images that match the data they have submitted. The more a user submits their favorite images, the more the server learns and the more accurate its recommendations get. Users can also check out featured images on the Ffffound homepage along with a list of recently active users. Clicking the user’s name takes the visitor to their profile where they can view the user’s favorite images.

What is the history and popularity of the app?

Ffffound was created to improve the way users find and store their favorite images online. The system is very easy to use and can help users discover new images they might never have found on their own. Today, many people use Ffffound to celebrate their love of images and build a list of images they adore.

What are the differences to other apps?

Ffffound offers a handful of helpful features, but the application is relatively watered down. In one way, this works to make it unique. Users can get right to work saving their favorite images and looking for others. On the other hand, someone in search of more functionality might be a little disappointed.

How does the web app look and feel to use?

The simple Ffffound website seems to hint at its basic features. The unique logo features the black silhouette of a person, reaching for something on the ground over the hand written Ffffound! logo. It really works for a site like this. The overall appearance is well organized, but a bit bland. A white background and mostly black text is offset by a hint of blue or red through the site’s navigational links. This works relatively well to keep the user’s focus on the images, although the images are going to be the most appealing thing visually about the site.

How does the registration process work?

Visitors can join Ffffound by clicking on the blue “Register” link along the left hand side when Ffffound becomes available to the public. For the time being, Ffffound is an invitation only service. Interested users should click on the small “contact” link also found along the left hand side (below the Register link). The user is taken to a very simple page that includes a contact email address. Email this address to ask about receiving an invitation.

What does it cost to use the application?

Ffffound is a very basic service that would be hard pressed to require a membership fee from its users. For now, Ffffound is accessible by invite only and does not require a subscription fee from its users. Whether or not this will change in the future remains to be seen. The site provides little information regarding future updates and account changes. For the time being, if you can obtain an invitation to Ffffound, you can access the service for free.

Who would you recommend the application to?

Ffffound is a great tool for anyone who is obsessed with online images. There is a limitless pool to choose from, so this might be very enticing for some. However they should read the Ffffound terms of service first because there are a few restrictions as far as which images can be included on Ffffound.

  • Submit your favorite online images to Ffffound
  • Mark an image as a “loved” image
  • View images found on other Ffffound user’s profiles
  • Discover new images suggested by Ffffound
  • Maintain a personal library of favorite online images
